Project Description:

The project is specifically housed within the Hope College Department of Nursing. The overall goal of this study is to develop a substantive theory of leadership when a nurse accepts a leadership role in an academic setting. This particular research methodology is for the purpose of formulating a theory. The research team will develop research questions to present to a sample of nurse leaders. Enrollment will consist of using a theoretical sampling method. Formulated open ended questions will be asked to each participant as part of the interview. Other aspects in the summer research is to transcribe and categorize the data based on the theoretical sample. Conceptual categories will then be developed by the researchers in order to have the theoretical model emerge. It is recommended that the student has taken NURS 380 Nursing Research prior to May 2019. Applicants will be considered based on the completion of the application process (transcripts, name of a reference, and essay). Decision for this position will be made on March 1, 2019.
