This research project will utilize transient finite element analysis (FEA) to predict the response of clamped plate structures to explosions that occur in close proximity to the structure. Both elastic and plastic plate responses will be considered. Students involved in this research will gain valuable experience using a sophisticated engineering software code to analyze the dynamic response of structures under blast pressure loading. The predictions obtained from FEA will be compared to those found previously from blast experiments. |
